As president of personal investing at Fidelity Investments, Joanna Rotenberg leads nearly 30,000 employees providing wealth, retirement, brokerage, insurance, and digital advice to millions of clients. She is especially focused on women and younger customers.

As a parent of three children, Rotenberg says “it’s always important to make sure that all women are heard.” The Covid-19 pandemic amplified economic challenges that women have long grappled with, says Rotenberg, such as pay inequity, higher healthcare costs, more student debt, and caregiving responsibilities.

She helped expand Fidelity’s Women Talk Money forum, where about 300,000 women nationwide ask questions and share saving and investing strategies. To engage younger customers and future investors, Rotenberg helped relaunch Fidelity’s flagship mobile app. Her team creates “snackable” nuggets of financial knowledge across multiple social media platforms. She also developed the brokerage industry’s first educational metaverse experience.

Rotenberg, 46, also launched “Complexity Slayer Academy,” inviting employees to crowdsource ideas to address problems of customers and colleagues.

Before joining Fidelity, Rotenberg held various positions at BMO Financial Group , a Toronto-based financial-services firm, and was a McKinsey partner. She earned her J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Toronto.
